Dr. Ki Moore Named Interim Dean of the UA College of Nursing

Ida M. “Ki” Moore, PhD, RN, FAAN

I am pleased to announce that Ida M. “Ki” Moore, PhD, RN, FAAN, Anne Furrow Professor, has been named Interim Dean of the UA College of Nursing.

Dr. Moore brings a wealth of experience to her interim role, including 20 years of administrative leadership as the Chair of the Bio-Behavioral Health Science Division in the College.

Throughout her career, Dr. Moore has developed extensive knowledge of both intramural and extramural research funding and has fostered collaborative partnerships to ensure educational program excellence, including revising the BSN program to a four-semester, upper-division curricula that continues to rank in the top 10 percent  of undergraduate nursing programs in the nation.

She also has created numerous opportunities and developed resources to support professional development excellence for career (clinical), tenured and tenure-eligible faculty members.

Dr. Moore holds a BSN and MA in Nursing from the University of Iowa and she received her PhD from the University of California, San Francisco. She joined the UA in 1988, serving in several key positions within the College and is a long-standing member of the UA Cancer Center.

Dr. Moore will play a critical role in the College’s continued pursuit of inclusive excellence, with a strong commitment to students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends. I am confident that she will continue to advance the educational, research and service missions of the UA College of Nursing and will ensure both continuity and movement to keep the College on its upward trajectory.

I would like to thank Dr. Joan Shaver again for her leadership and advocacy to expand educational opportunities to help us close the health-care gap. The impact of her stewardship will continue to be felt for the foreseeable future.
